Truman Lamers, Rhinelander, Wisconsin – 2025 Turner Maurice Gauntt, Jr. Exemplary Citizen Award Winner

Truman is an outstanding young leader who exemplifies excellence in academics, athletics, service, and character, which are the four cornerstone areas of this award. Maintaining a GPA of 4.563 at Wisconsin’s Rhinelander High School, earning AP Scholar with Honor distinction, and achieving a composite ACT score of 33, he has excelled as captain of the football, basketball, and track teams, earning All-Conference honors in each sport.

As a servant leader, he mentored younger students, served as Vice President of the National Honor Society, and volunteered through Key Club, Link Crew, and numerous community projects. Truman’s leadership fosters kindness, inclusion, and perseverance, and his openness about his own mental health challenges inspires others and breaks stigma. With a goal of becoming a psychiatrist, he seeks to help others as he has led and served throughout high school.
