    Horace Cooper,
Hope you are well. Thank you for all the good things that you have done for our country.
It is my understanding that you favor the death penalty.
Certainly, our society must be protected from dangerous criminals, but the death penalty is usually not needed to do that.
Executions take away the possibility that the perpetrators may be rehabilitated or that they may someday try to provide restitution to the wronged families.
Also, capital punishment increases the radius of suffering
by potentially hurting the friends and families of the perpetrators.
In addition, it is possible that the persons caught for the crime might actually be innocent.
Please consider these factors in your pursuit of justice.
    Best regards,
    Mike
