Meet the Guest
Robert Hurt
Robert Hurt serves as Executive Vice-President and General Counsel for 4C Digital Health.
Hurt brings a wealth of legal, market, government, and financial services experience to our 4C team. Having been involved in policymaking in Washington and Virginia over 20 years, he believes, now more than ever, that market-oriented private sector solutions are critically needed to help reduce the cost of healthcare for all Americans and that 4C is at the forefront of providing transparency and market discipline to the healthcare marketplace for the benefit of self-insured organizations, their employees, and taxpayers.
A native of Virginia, Hurt served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Virginia’s Fifth District for three terms from 2011–2017. While in Congress, Hurt was appointed to the Financial Services Committee where he served as the Vice-Chair of both the Capital Markets and the Housing and Insurance Subcommittees.
After stepping down from Congress, Hurt served as the Dean of Liberty University’s Helms School of Government, where he led a school serving over 10,000 students and 300 faculty members.
Prior to representing Virginia’s Fifth District, Hurt worked as a lawyer and served as a citizen-legislator from Southside Virginia in the Virginia Senate, in the Virginia House of Delegates, and on the Chatham Town Council. As a lawyer, Hurt began his career as Chief Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for Pittsylvania County and then went on to build a successful private law practice.
Hurt received his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College.
Hurt currently serves as an independent director on the boards of Pinnacle Bankshares Corporation and First National Bank.
