Stamford Student Wins National Competition For Original Song
Annie Nirschel, 17, won the “Constituting America†Best Song by a High School Student award. Nirschel has been singing since she was 7. Her first performance was singing the “The Star-Spangled Banner†at a Bridgeport Bluefish game. She sang in front of more than 15,000 people at Battery Park in Manhattan for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and for more than a million people at the 2011 “Salute to Israel†parade, also in Manhattan.
Nirschel performed the award-winning song, “I Am Me,†at State Cinema in Stamford on Monday. Constituting America is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 with the mission of utilizing culture, film, television and music to educate Americans about the importance of the U.S. Constitution.
