Aundraya Dominey & Aulexsia Dominey

My name is Aundraya Dominey and I just recently graduated high school in the year of 2024. This project was one I did in my senior year and I was very excited to do it. I love learning about the Constitution and America’s government. There was a point in life where I wanted to work as a K9 officer. But as I have grown older I have found a passion for training service animals and helping others. My hobbies include training animals and being with my family. I love to help people and I work well with dogs so I combined my passions to now make a difference in the world. I hope to grow my business and train a lot of dogs to help a lot of people over the span of my life.

Aulexsia is an 18-year-old student from Tower City, Pennsylvania. She is currently a senior at Northern Dauphin Christian School. She plans on attending Montana Wilderness School of the Bible in the fall of 2025. Throughout high school, she has participated in archery, National Christian Honors Society, and student council. During her senior year, she was able to work at a preschool as a teacher’s aide. She volunteers a lot at her school and in her community. She is strongly involved in her church and youth group. At her church, she serves every Sunday during kid’s church. She is also highly involved with Camp Conquest, a summer camp she grew up at. She has been serving every summer since she was 15 years old, and still plans to continue serving there. She owns a German Shepherd dog and loves to take her dog on hikes. She enjoys almost anything outdoors, especially swimming and hiking. She is so grateful for the “We The Future” competition that she got to be a part of.

Our Interview With Aundraya & Aulexsia

Was this the first time you entered the contest?
Aundraya: Yes
Aulexsia: Yes

How did you hear about the contest?
Aundraya: Search from the internet and using a scholarship website
Aulexsia: My sister, Aundraya.

What inspired your work?
Aundraya: Our government class was going through a textbook so all the material came from that but we wanted to do a creative project and the idea for the book came from a conversation I had with my classmates involving how we could better the elementary school that we are connected with. Also for a service project in school we are able to go to our elementary school and read to them so we thought it would be cool to write a book for them since we had to do a project for our class anyway.
Aulexsia: My government class.

What did you learn about the U.S. Constitution while creating your entry?
Aundraya: I learned more about the branches and what their different powers were. I already knew a good bit about the Amendments from taking a Law and Public Safety class but I never knew much about what the actual intended purpose of each branch of government was so I was able to learn more about that.
Aulexsia: The background, why it was written, and a bunch of the content.

How do you plan to spread the word this year to your peers about the importance of the U.S. Constitution?
Aundraya: I plan to tell them what I learned from doing this project and also just start more conversations with others about the government because I enjoy talking about the things I learn.
Aulexsia: Making the importance known to them through conversations.

Which U.S. historical site would you like to visit?
Aundraya: I would love to visit the veteran memorials because I have always been fascinated about learning about U.S. history and the wars we were involved in. Since I am in the military I also want to pay my respects to those who have lost their lives serving because I understand that sacrifice better than the average person now.
Aulexsia: Flight 93 Memorial

What are your career plans?
Aundraya: I plan to continue my service in the military and eventually grow in business to train service dogs to help wounded veterans.
Aulexsia: Full time ministry.

How do you spend your free time?
Aundraya: I enjoy hanging out with my family and relaxing when I am not busy working or doing other things. I enjoy training and working with dogs, specifically training service animals to help people. I enjoy helping others and being involved in my local church.
Aulexsia: Hiking, spending time with my dog, working out.

Why is the Constitution relevant today?
Aundraya: The Constitution is the foundation of laws and should be involved in every government decision that is made. It is a founding document that holds a lot of importance and is relevant in every decision being made in our government today.
Aulexsia: It is part of the foundation for America, which allows us to have the rights that we have.
