Amendment XIX
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
Passed by Congress June 4, 1919. Ratified August 18, 1920.
The XIX Amenment:
As a woman I cannot imagine the level pain of not being able to vote as was the case for women for 130 years. No power. No recourse. No participation in decisions affecting our country. And a gigantic waste of our national resources well. (As was the lack of black voters before that.)
But the unimaginable pain. I’m so glad that at 81 years now I never had to live through that!!!!!
