Our Interview With Leianna
Was this the first time you entered the contest?
This is not the first time that I’ve entered the contest. My first entry was a short social media video on the importance of R.A.P.P.S in 2023. “The Constitutional Three Little Pigs” is now my third entry.
How did you hear about the contest?
My grandmother wanted my siblings and I to enter into the contest as her children did when they were in high school.
What inspired your work?
I wanted to create something unique, fun, and entertaining, yet familiar, so that any common person could watch the video and understand it. What could be more familiar than the classic fairytale: “The Three Little Pigs”?The idea of the story being told as a puppet show, mixing sock puppets with real people, added the unique and fun elements that I was looking for. Surprisingly the fairytale wasn’t too hard to adapt into an analogy, making the dialogue much easier to write. I think the film turned out to be as I pictured- a success.
What did you learn about the U.S. Constitution while creating your entry?
While writing my entry I learned just how protected we are as citizens of the United States of America, and if I hadn’t been so lucky as to have been born here then who knows how I might have made out.
How do you plan to spread the word this year to your peers about the importance of the U.S Constitution?
This year I plan to spread the word to my peers about the importance of the Constitution by having civil conversations and by using examples of other countries’ misfortune due to their weak laws or omnipotent government, that without the Constitution have no restrictions to protest the people of that country.
Which U.S. historical site would you like to visit?
I would love to visit either the White House or the Statue of Liberty, both are massive beautiful pieces of architecture that have great historical marks in American history.
What are your career plans?
I am interested in doing something in the artistic field, probably something that contains a little bit of everything, from singing to dancing to writing and to creating art. But, honestly I am still not set on anything specific.
How do you spend your free time?
Lately my free time has been spent doing performances or helping with musical theater shows, working on characters and story developments for books that I am creating, and hanging out within friends and family.
Why is the Constitution relevant today?
The Constitution is still and forever will be relevant to protect the lives of the American citizens that freely live everyday thanks to the document.
