Our Interview With Elijah

Was this the first time you entered the contest?
This is actually my third time entering the “WE THE FUTURE CONTEST”.

How did you hear about the contest?
I heard about the contest from my grandmother.

What inspired your work?
I was inspired by listening to the songs of past winners. Their songs inspired me to take the torch.

What did you learn about the U.S. Constitution while creating your entry?
While creating my entry, I learned that the Constitution guarantees my right to religious freedom. I cannot imagine a world without God, especially given His presence in my life. Discovering more about these freedoms made me deeply grateful that our Founding Fathers not only envisioned a dream but also brought it to life through the Constitution.

How do you plan to spread the word this year to your peers about the importance of the U.S Constitution?
I plan to show my peers not only my entry but the entries of others and hopefully inspire them to create an entry just as I did.

Which U.S. historical site would you like to visit?
I really hope to see the Bunker Hill monument.

What are your career plans?
For my future I am still considering my options by way of possible military service, trade school, or traditional university. But performing will always be a part of whatever career path I decide to take.

How do you spend your free time?
I usually spend most of my free time doing musical performances, playing the guitar, reading my favorite books, and playing rugby.

Why is the Constitution relevant today?
The Constitution is relevant today as it always was since its birth in 1789, we as Americans look to the Constitution as a guide and a reminder of how to live as free Americans.
