Addyson Pannell

Hi! My name is Addyson, and I am now a 9th grader at Azle High School in Texas. Some of my favorite things to do are art, color guard, watching movies, and reading (mostly historical fiction). When I’m not doing those things, I’m with my friends and family or doing schoolwork.

I first became interested in history in my 7th grade year during Texas history, but gradually liked it through 5th and 6th grade year. After that, I dived into history in my 8th-grade year and only read historical fiction for months!

The people I thank the most for winning best STEM project are my middle school history teachers, Mrs. Hinkle and Mr. Fonville for making me realize that history is my favorite subject and making me eager to learn more about history.

When I go to college, I want to stay in Texas so I’m somewhat close to home and go to Texas A&M and get a bachelor’s in Human Services. After that, I want to become a speech pathologist to help people with speech and language disorders.

Finally, I would like to thank my family for always being there and believing in me. If there is one thing that I wish I could hear every day for the rest of my life would be my dad’s famous quote “Be a leader, be a good person.” this motivates me every day to go out and be amazing. Id also like to thank, Constituting America for this opportunity.

Our Interview With Addyson

Was this the first time you entered the contest?
Yes!

How did you hear about the contest?
Constituting America came to my school and as soon as I heard of the contest I knew I was entering no matter what.

What inspired your work?
My U.S History teacher Ms. Hinkle because she was a huge help while making this website.

What did you learn about the U.S. Constitution while creating your entry?
In class we mostly only focused on the bill of rights so I would say being able to learn about the other 17 amendments.

How do you plan to spread the word this year to your peers about the importance of the U.S Constitution?
Well that’s mostly why I created this website because when I looked at some of the quiz grades, some were pretty low… so I want people to be able to view my website and learn more about the constitution.

Which U.S. historical site would you like to visit?
Well I’ve already been to D.C once this year but on a place I wish I could go again would be Mount Vernon

What are your career plans?
I want to become a speech pathologist and be in the human services cluster.

How do you spend your free time?
Mostly doing color guard for the azle guard

Why is the Constitution relevant today?
Because (specifically in the bill of rights) the constitution shows our given rights as an American citizen in the nation
