Abigail Moore

My name is Abigail Moore. I’m in 7th grade and attend Hamilton Middle School in Denver, CO.
A few things about me:
I love to sing! I’ve been a part of the Denver Children’s Choir since 4th grade and it’s been such a wonderful experience, so rewarding and full of opportunity. I also love to read! If I’m not singing, I’m reading. Young adult fiction/fantasy/thriller books are my favorite right now. I have two cats at home; Neville Longbottom and Noelle. I have a big, blended family with a total of 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
I’m always thinking of new things I’d like to do when I get older. I aspire to someday be a writer and bring joy to people’s lives. Writing this song for Constituting America was so much fun and I’m so grateful that I was given the opportunity to be a part of something so important.
To anyone reading this, I just want to say, follow your dreams! We only get this one life and we should live it to the fullest! You can do anything you set your mind to.
Thank you, Constituting America, for recognizing my work and naming me the Honorable Mention for the song-writing category for middle school. What an amazing award!

Yes, this was the first time I entered the contest.
How did you hear about the contest?
I heard about the contest from my music teacher Ms. Shaw, at Hamilton Middle School.
What inspired your work?
What inspired my work/song was when I really thought about how much work it took to get our freedom, and how we got to the America we have today, and based my song on that.
What did you learn about the U.S. Constitution while creating your entry?
What I learned about the U.S. Constitution when I entered in this contest, was our unalienable rights, like the freedom of religion or speech.
How do you plan to spread the word this year to your peers about the importance of the U.S Constitution?
I plan to spread the word about how the US Constitution is important to my peers by showing them my song, and asking them.. “What did you learn? ”
Which U.S. historical site would you like to visit?
The US historical site I would want to see is the Lincoln Memorial.
What are your career plans?
Though I’m not sure what career path I’m going to take, a job that interests me is a professional performer/singer/songwriter.
How do you spend your free time?
During my free time, you can often find me relaxing at home, hanging out with my best friends, singing, or playing with my kitties.
Why is the Constitution relevant today?
The Constitution is relevant today because, we still live by it. Without the US Constitution, like the Declaration of Independence says, we wouldn’t have the chance to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We would still be struggling to be independent.
