Reed Cooksey is nine years old and was born in Oregon. He has lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for two years. He is already an uncle to five kids! He likes to snow ski, hike, camp, play with circuit boards with his brother in law, make movies on the computer, and play with Legos. He loves Jesus and likes to spend time with his family.

Remie is a 7 year old  2nd Grader at Copperwood Elementary School in Glendale,Arizona. He is a very inquisitive, friendly young boy who loves to learn new things, but most of all, he absolutely loves to talk to anyone and everyone. He also loves to read books, draw and sings constantly. He’s a member of Grammy Award Winning-Phoenix Boys Choir. We would like to acknowledge Montessori Center,his preschool,who helped us nourish his young mind. Special mention to Mrs. Cristal Wooten, Remie’s current teacher, for working and encouraging him. Remie is a great kid  who loves to play and watch TV with his younger sister, Ariella. Both have thrived coming from Philippine and American cultures. We all love him so much!

Lara Elkasri, age 10, is a fifth grader at Corbett Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida. Her favorite subjects include reading and math. She enjoys ballet, acrobatics and piano. Lara loves spending time with her sisters at home and is honored to receive this award.

Thomas Norton, 10, lives in Grapevine, TX. He’s a 4th grader at Grapevine Faith Christian School and lives with his parents, big sister, and dog, Molly. He has always loved art and enjoys drawing lifelike pictures as well as things from his imagination.

When he’s not drawing, he can usually be found playing Minecraft or creating something. He recently earned his black belt in karate and also plays baseball and basketball. He loves attending Bible club and looks forward to his weekly art lesson.

Thomas wants everyone to know his winning artwork of a Marine saluting the flag is his depiction of his grandpa who served in the Marine Corps for 23 years. He is truly honored to be selected as this year’s winner and knows his grandpa would be proud.

Cason McIntyre, age 7, is a first grader at Estes Park Elementary School in Estes Park, Colorado. While he very much enjoys reading and art at school, he would say his favorite subject is recess! He spends many hours pouring over books or with a colored pencil in hand, working on his next masterpiece. He also loves to play with Legos. Outside of school, Cason enjoys hunting with his dad and enjoying the great outdoors. He also helps with the family garden and cares for his flock of hens. Cason is full of life and shares a smile with everyone he meets. Cason is very excited to receive this award.

Lena McIntyre, age 9, is a fourth grader at Estes Park Elementary School in Estes Park, Colorado. Her favorite subjects in school are science and art and she stays very active with choir and basketball. Outside of school, she expresses her creative side through art and dance. Living in Colorado also allows for many fun outdoor activities including hiking, hunting with her dad and fishing. She stays busy helping care for the family chickens and also loves getting her hands dirty in the garden. Lena is a wonderful young lady who enjoys life to the fullest. Best Poem (grades K-2): Myra Vicchrilli, 8, was born in Aurora, Colorado, a suburb of Denver, and now lives in Wiggins, Colorado. She loves animals. Myra has a horse named Tippsy; two dogs, Dice and Duke; and six cats named Kelsey, Rummy, Sasha, Clide, Molly and Macey. She has a two-year-old sister named Kellie that she adores, and loves to go to the horse races where her daddy is a jockey.

Best Artwork (grades K-2): Emma Harrison, 8, lives in Corinth, Texas with her parents, older sister Abbey, and two cats. Emma is an outgoing, friendly brown haired, brown eyed, left-handed third grader. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming, camping, sailing, drawing, taking piano lessons, and attending church. Abigail Olschewski, 7, Best Poem Winner, Grades K-2, just started the second grade at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning. She lives with her parents and two older brothers in the beautiful little town of Brigham City about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City in the mountains of Utah. She loves to read, sing, whistle, and make art projects. She is a Brownie in the Girl Scouts and active in her church. She loves to play outside, and with her friends.

Preity Chavan, 9, Best Artwork Winner, is a social and fun loving 4th grader at Crabapple Crossing Elementary School in Peach State- Alpharetta, Georgia. She lives with her parents and her older sister. Preity likes to sing, dance and ride her bike. Her favorite subjects at school are Math, Science, Music and Art. Lindsay Culpepper, 11, Best Poem Winner, lives in Maylene, AL, just south of Birmingham. She is a sixth grader at Evangel Classical Christian School, where she enjoys studying science, Latin, and history. In her free time, she likes reading, writing, art, horseback riding, and playing basketball. An animal lover, she has attended Zoo Camp at the Birmingham Zoo each summer for the past four years. She recently started serving in the children’s ministry at her church, assisting with the children’s worship service. In the future she hopes to become a writer, a nature photographer, or a veterinarian.

School is cool for Grace as a 2nd grade scholar at Luther Jones Elementary. Maryem Bouatlaoui, 10, Best Emblem Winner, is a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was born in Morocco. Maryem attends Henry W. Lawton Elementary School. James Corley Sanders, 10, Best Elementary School Artwork Winner, lives in Trout, Louisiana. He is an honor student in the 5th grade at Fellowship Elementary, where he participates in the gifted enrichment program. He is currently serving as Vice President of the 4-H Club. He is a member of the 4-H Competitive Shooting Sports Team, an active member of Cub Scouts, plays baseball, soccer, and basketball. James serves as his church offertory assistant. In his free time he enjoys playing piano, chess, reading, drawing, writing, and fishing. He also enjoys spending time with his loving and supportive grandparents. Recent achievements include winning first place in the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association junior essay contest, placing second in the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association Photography contest, and being selected as the 5th grade student of the year for his school. James had a lot of fun creating his artwork, and feels so blessed to be awarded this opportunity. He hopes to honor and bring praise to God through whatever he is putting his heart into. Campbell Collins, 10, Best Elementary School Poem Winner, is a homeschooled 5th grader from Austin, Texas. She loves to Irish dance, swim, and write. Her favorite subjects are English and art history. Campbell is also a committed Girl Scout. In fact, she wrote this poem in order to earn a Girl Scout Constitution badge. Campbell loves to write poetry—although she admits that writing a sonnet about the separation of powers was really challenging!

With this poetry category, Becca creatively had fun while using the French political philosopher’s name (Montesquieu) in an acrostic to enlighten the reader of our nation’s ‘Checks and Balances’ system. Becca, 12, is currently a 6th grader at London ISD and lives with her parents, younger sister and two brothers in the sparkling city of Corpus Christi, Texas. While striving for good grades, her favorite subjects are Reading and Writing. Hobbies include listening to music and any activities that involve creative designing. In a leadership capacity last year, Rebecca received the school’s Academic Excellence (or Marlin) Award with her essay entitled “The Importance of Family.” With more time and focus, Becca hopes to gain greater understanding and appreciation for our beloved Constitution and how it connects with our everyday life.

Lucas Elliott is a second grader from Wake Forest, North Carolina. His favorite subjects in school are math and reading. Since he is the youngest of four children, he is well versed in making sure his thoughts and ideas are not ever lost in the shuffle. He loves to entertain and is excited about all forms of media.
